Almacén de los recuerdos
ENG/Storehouse of Memories

cardboar installation and stop-motion video.
2018

The city, ever more intensely built, now invades our most intimate space, our sanctuary: our room. It enters through the window and renders it uninhabitable. With it comes a multitude of subjectivities: thoughts, reflections, plans, feelings—as many as the number of people who live there. And this city holds them in its small compartments, like tied-up scraps of paper. But these are nothing more than my own memories, small invaders that remind me there are still issues to resolve, things that aren't so easily left behind. They've come to tell me that you can't run from the past.

This work is a stop-motion record of the invasion that occurred in my room. The buildings are 5 x 5 cm modules made of cardboard. The papers resting on them are memories I've kept for over 7 years. Small pieces of paper that at first seemed insignificant show that everything written there is still relevant, and the weight I gave them when I put them away. A small receipt scribbled on by a friend carries a whole story filled with good and bad thoughts.

Exhibited in  “Nos gustan las estudiantes” Galería Concreta, Matucana 100.  And in “Las sin prescedente” Sala Juan Egenau. 2018, Chile.
